A Short History of Tree of Life Christian Fellowship

OUR NAME

Tree of Life Christian Fellowship (TLCF) was birthed in July 1991.  Our name, obviously a scriptural reference, was a gift from God.  Tree of Life has been a prophetic name in many ways.  Just as the leaves of the tree of life in Revelation 22:2 are for the healing of the nations (peoples), so also the ministry of TLCF has been maturing into a ministry of personal and relational healing.

…On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.  Rev. 22:2 (NIV)

The following prophecy was presented to Tree of Life by Dr. James Hoston.  Dr. Jim is the Pastor of Counseling at Sierra Vista’s Shiloh Christian Center:

Tree of Life Fellowship is not an accident. Your Pastor has been called, equipped and placed by God. With Him, you have persevered, persisted and overcome. By the Power of God—you have accomplished. Therefore, God has moved you. He has set you in new spiritual surroundings. There is new opportunity all around you. Many are praying for enlarged territories. His Word to you is that this has been granted to you. Now, you are to expand into your possession. Now, you are to be maximized in your callings. Be maximized as individuals, so that He can maximize your call as a fellowship.

So let your limitations be removed. The Lord is with you to uphold you! Today the Lord says to you that He is with you. Therefore you must not see yourself as limited. In reality, you are enlarged. You have new borders. You are called to go beyond any perceived limitations. The Lord’s exhortation to you today, is to be all you can be for His Kingdom.

The below new prophecy was presented to Tree of Life by Dr. James Hoston:

Today's Word furthers that former Word.  It says "Break Out."  He says, "Yes, I command breakout.  I still call you to maximization, but now I no longer speak of limitations.  I shift your identity from limits to breakout.  I grant you a new name.  Your name is no longer 'Prepare' - it is now 'Proceed.'  For this I am empowering you.  For this I strengthen you to go forth.  Now you are called to break out into the Destiny of My Kingdom.  I grant you breakout force.  This is a zeal that cannot be defeated.  Your fellowship base will support breakout, but I take you far beyond your Tree of Life fellowship.  I send you to range far and wide individually, going forth to be influences for My Kingdom and returning with the fruit of much victory.  For these missions I prepare you.  I say, "Be you prepared."

By My Word

By My Truth

By My Spirit

By My Impartation

I present you your breakout.

 OUR CONGREGATION

The membership of TLCF is a diverse bunch of believers. We come from every background and denomination. Since we are a non-denominational fellowship all these unique individuals provide for a very interesting mix. This is one of the great strengths of Tree of Life.

Through the years we have seen God bring different groups of people to TLCF for equipping. One season a large contingent of young soldiers attending school at Fort Huachuca gravitated to the church.  A ministry was formed to accommodate this influx.  Eventually, the troops were assigned elsewhere. The loss of these young disciples was difficult, but within time the Lord brought some of them back to bless Tree of Life. The fruit from the soldier ministry continues to bless the Kingdom of God.

And there was the time the Lord had a group of bikers filter in. This created quite a stir in the community and our congregation.  After a good season of equipping, these folks also moved on to other callings and ministries.

At the present time, Tree of Life is home church to many within the local law enforcement community. Some have moved on to other locales and agencies, but a core group remains. They have become a solid foundation within the church as they minister and raise their families.

Promoting spiritual intimacy and growth requires an atmosphere of freedom and accountability. This freedom to seek God and serve Him intimately and corporately characterizes the vision and membership of Tree of Life.  It is from within this environment that we seek to reach out in ministry to further the work of our Heavenly Father’s Kingdom in our fellowship, community, and wherever He leads us.
