What is Salvation?

Salvation is the start to a spirit-filled life. It is being born anew from above, by the Spirit of God.

In the Garden, Adam and Eve had perfect communion with God. They were sinless and innocent like babies. It was their spiritual relationship with God the Father that died when Adam and Eve sinned. They could no longer have communion with a holy God until there was a way provided that could bring us back to God. Fallen mankind attempts to live a fulfilling self-controlled life without communion with God. This is impossible. Until we go through the door of Life by receiving Jesus as our new Lord (elimination of self-rule), we cannot experience the abundant life of God.

Many religions, even various Christian sects, teach people to know God intellectually through their souls. However, only submission to Jesus can provide communion with God and grant us the relationship with the Father that Adam and Eve once had. Jesus was sent to recover what was lost through sinful disobedience. God came to earth as a man to restore the broken relationship with His people and to give them back the spiritual life that was lost through Adam and Eve's disobedience.

Following the salvation experience, Jesus calls us to water baptism. Baptism in water is a step of obedience that demonstrates publicly the death of our old ways and the beginning of our new life in Christ and entrance into His living Body—the Church.

The indwelling Spirit of God, prayer, the Bible, and the local church help to keep us on the road of spiritual growth as we battle this world’s ungodly pressures, our own fleshly nature, and the schemes of Satan. Obedience to Christ and His Kingdom rule prevents us from falling back into the destructive pattern of self-rule. In Jesus, we have a right relationship with God and are called to participate in His Kingdom, which is exemplified by true love, justice and mercy.
